Candidate:

Mr. SpaceX

About Me:

I have had a highly technical career so far, being a technical expert in my current roles, but I have had the ability to change industries from physics/math to aerospace to automotive. I believe I’m uniquely suited to move into a career in venture capital/entrepreneurship in the green energy sector to make an outsized impact on climate change.

Details:

Undergrad School: Northwestern

Undergrad Major: Physics and Mathematics

GPA: 3.65

GMAT: 740

Age: 31,  Ethnicity: White

Other Degree/Certification: Masters in Aerospace Engineering

Work History:

Title: Unicorn Electric Vehicle Startup

Industry: Automotive

Company: Start-Up

Title: SpaceX

Industry: Aerospace

Company: Privately-Owned

Length of Employment: 5 yrs

Big Life Wins:

While working at SpaceX, I have seen the company go from not being able to land a rocket to regularly reusing them. I was one of the main contributors to the structural testing and methods that enabled rocket reuse.

Post MBA Goal:

My goal is moving into venture capital to really push change regarding issues that matter to me, such as green energy. Moving into electric cars was my first push towards this goal but there is only so much I can do as an engineer. Moving to the business side would enable me to pursue the opportunities that will arise as more green energy is needed

Hi Mr. SpaceX, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. Sounds like you seen some very interesting technological advancements at SpaceX – and I love that you have made the transition to green energy since that is where you want to be post MBA. Your year (2 upon matriculation) will serve you well to both contribute as well as learn. I can see why venture capital is attractive and while I definitely can see this as a part of your path – these positions are extremely difficult to come by post MBA. Generally speaking people able to move into VC post MBA have either consulting or IB experience. Others tend to join VC later in their career, with either many years of experience in an industry or …
