I worked on a research paper with a Nobel Laureate – still shell-shocked at having the opportunity to work on a project of that scale and complexity. Was one of the leading graduates at MBB and early promoted into the post-MBA position at my firm.

Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission! You’ve got the elements of an excellent profile – outstanding academics, a track record of meaningful extracurricular involvement, and impactful work experience at very highly-desired organizations: An MBB and a VC. While Stanford and HBS are extremely competitive (and often unpredictable in terms of admissions) you’d certainly be a contender. One thing I’m wondering – given that you just joined the VC firm: would you want to see it through for another year, and apply in Fall 2021 instead? Another option is applying in R1 this year, and if things don’t work out, you’re not at a disadvantage for reapplying next year. In any case, with a strong application with a very thoughtful essay (see mbaMission’s Guide on the HBS and GSB essay on the website) you’ll be a solid candidate. Best of luck!

Wow. All I can say is WOW! Great stats and work progression. I’m impressed by your undergrad involvement and curious if you are doing something outside of your work that aligns with your interest in helping students from marginalized areas of society. THIS will be key to your narrative and, if you aren’t already engaged in something that relates to the problem you want to solve using technology, you would be well served to get involved in advance of submitting applications.

Stanford, specifically, is looking for students who want to change lives, change organizations and change the world. While they don’t expect that you will have done all of these things before business school, they will want to know what steps you have already taken towards your vision for changing the world.
In the end, your success will come down to the story you tell about why you want to pursue your goals.
Wishing you all the best in your MBA application journey.
