Hello Mr. Welsh PE! Krista Nannery from mbaMission here. And Notre Dame Class of 1996! I was Farley. (Also UK resident for 10+ years until last summer!) So I’m kinda loving this combination — international, great university (obviously), great GMAT, decent GPA and I love that you are doing some things in Kenya. My one tiny concern is that you are maybe just a tiny tiny bit on the younger side. I typically find that candidates like you are most successful at the top levels with 4 or 5 years of work experience. (HBS will wonder if you have enough experience to add to the classroom. You can always argue that you do, but you won’t know how your experience stacks up with others.) Homework for you…not …

Homework for you…not sure how big your firm is but start making a list of who in leadership has MBAs and from where, along with who has gone on to b-school from your firm in the last 3 to 5 years. Try to figure out how many years of work experience they had before they applied. That will give you a sense of your chances. I like that you have Booth, Kellogg, and CBS on your list. That will help make sure you have multiple options in this process. I recommend going all-in in R1 to get their attention with that 750 and UK passport. I wish you all the best for this process! Hi Mr. Welsh PE, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. Your PE experience will make you a competitive candidate, but you’ll need to make sure you can differentiate yourself among other finance fellows. Harvard in particular will look forward to talking shop with you. Your GMAT score puts you above Harvard’s average of 730 and I think will compensate for your GPA being lower than the average. I’d want to dig more into your leadership extracurricularly and how you became involved in Kenya – and your goal to work around Austrian economics. Also, since you have lower years of experience, you’ll want to make sure you address why now is the right time for you and be able to give evidence of your leadership in …

Overall, I think your chances are above average of Harvard’s 12% and higher with the other programs you’ve mentioned. I think you’ve got a good group of schools on your list.
