Candidate:

Ms. 2+2 ENG Entrepreneur

About Me:

I am a deferred admission program applicant who is a first-generation engineer with a BS and MS in industrial and systems engineering. I have internship experiences working in the consulting sector and for the largest oil and gas company in the world. I am very enthusiastic about the impact I have been able to have on my college campus, specifically through serving as Chapter President of my large student organization. When I was 18 years old my family adopted teenage twins who did not come from a good educational district. These new additions to my family really opened my eyes to the educational opportunity gaps apparent in our nation. Because of this, 2 years ago I founded an educational software start-up which aims to close this gap for disadvantaged students. This project has truly been a labor of love for me and I would like to run it full-time in the future.

  • mbaMission Odds Assessment: 25%

Hi, it’s Nisha with mbaMission. You have such an intriguing background – top engineering student, startup founder who’s driven by a clear mission, and sorority leader. Based on your strong academics, extracurricular leadership, and professional promise, I think you’ll be an attractive candidate to the deferred programs, especially since your career goals are well thought-out (which some early-career candidates struggle with).

To maximize your chances, you’ll want to fully communicate your professional and personal impact on your resume (with an emphasis on leadership), explain the motivations behind your career goals (which you should be able to do quite easily, based on how well you have explained them here), and make a case for how each program will help you attain these …

  • Stratus Admissions Counseling Odds Assessment: 25%

Hi Ms. 2+2 ENG Entrepreneur. This is Donna Bauman with Stratus Admissions and I am happy to weigh in on your chances for HBS 2+2 and other deferred admit programs. There are a few things in your background that will be very appealing to deferred admit programs in general. Because you have an engineering background, you are not in the MBA pipeline as much as someone who studied business and many of the deferred admit programs are looking to attract talent that might not be thinking about an MBA. However, Iā€™m not sure how much benefit you have given that you are heading into the consulting pipelineā€”which is very traditional on the MBA route. But I still see your engineering degree as a positive and …
