I landed an internship with Universal Creative and went on to secure a Full-Time position working on attraction design/production on Universal’s Epic Universe. I now understand the importance of learning the business side and want to obtain my MBA.

Hi Ms. BFA To MBA, I like your unique background! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission. I think you have a lot going for you. Although your GMAT score is a shade below the average for Tuck, you have a strong GPA. That said, given you were a creative major in college, do consider using the Optional Essay to highlight any college analytical / quant classes you took and did well at. Apart from academics, being on the creative side of the entertainment business helps you stand out from the crowd. The flip side is that you do have to articulate clearly why you are interested in pivoting to the business side. What motivated you to want to transition to a strategy role in the industry? …

Hi Ms. BFA to MBA, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. How fun to be able to be on the show and design side of entertainment! Iām sure the last year has been interesting and will provide an interesting perspective to classroom discussion. So while your GMAT is lower than the average, you are still solidly within the range at Tuck. Depending upon your quant score, part of what admission is going to want to see evidence of is your ability to handle the quant rigor of the program. As a part of your role, do you manage budgets? Depending upon your quant score, part of what admission is going to want to see evidence of is your ability to handle the quant rigor of the program. As a part of your role, do you manage budgets? Do analysis on customer data? Make sure to highlight the quant aspects of your role – and you could ask a recommender to back this up as well. You may want to consider either a Berkeley or UCLA Management for Math extension course or MBA Math to have a recent example of your classroom performance in a quant based class. Depending upon where you are on your GMAT journey and your quant score, you may want to consider retaking the GMAT. Your unique profile will be interesting to adcom, and it sounds like you have done some introspection as to how an MBA will help you. Be specific about what you need an MBA for – how will an MBA help you grow in a strategic capacity. What business and leadership learning do you plan to do while there. Also, as the world attempts to return to normal – think about the disruption you have seen in the entertainment industry and how this will help you contribute to classroom discussions. Also, look for productions that schools to as a way to contribute back. I never like to see a 1 school strategy. Other schools that jump to mind from an entertainment perspective are UCLA and NYU.
