Hi All! I’m a 26-year-old, originally from Colombia. I’ve been working in NYC for the past 4 years. My first job was in Investment Banking, and I’m currently at a large PE fund. I’ve been incredibly fortunate so far, but wish to step back from the safe path and pivot into a role that would position me as a thought leader in Colombia

Hi Ms. Fintech to Investor, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. To start with, congrats on your impressive stats. They will be a huge advantage to your application, yet not all what adcomm will want to see. I love to see your board involvement on a national charity – obviously longer commitment to this charity will be more valuable – and the impact you have had while on the board. Your goals make sense for 5 and 10 years out, and Iād love to know what you hope to do immediately post-MBA and how that will translate to VC in the short term. While VC is an ambitious goal for post-MBA because there are few positions and many people vying for them, your experience in banking and PE will be extremely beneficial here. Make sure you highlight the impacts you’ve had in your banking and PE roles. For a school like Stanford, Iād really like to know more about why VC and what impact you hope to have in the future through Fintech in your home country. Stanford is going to want to know the opportunity you are chasing and that you have thought through the resources you will need. It feels like you have a lot of solid pieces to put together a great story – just make sure you are taking the time to reflect and tell this story in a compelling way. Best of luck through the process and reach out if I can answer any other questions!
