You bring a very impressive profile to the game as a female Kiwi engineer, experience at MBB, and a 4.0 undergraduate GPA from a great university. While your GRE is six points under the class average of 326, I think HBS would be lucky to have you. There aren’t all that many Kiwis at the business school. In 2022-2023, there were only four MBA students from New Zealand. The most recent high was seven in 2016-2017. Your work experience in the business of health also adds to your appeal. As you well know, however, Harvard is among the most highly selective schools in the world. I would urge you to hedge your bets and apply to three of four other schools. Elite MBA admissions can often be quite random because the applicant pools at these schools are rich with talent. You do benefit from your age: If you don’t get a yes from Harvard this time, you might very well get one next time. So you do have the benefit of a reapplication, and HBS accepts quite a few reapplicants, roughly one in ten students had been initially dinged by the school, only to reapply and get in. Good luck to you!
