Hi Ms. Public Health, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. Sounds like you have some solid project and product management skills that will lend themselves well to a career in consulting. Your experience of starting your company’s Project/Product Management organization sounds a bit like an internal consulting project. If you’ve been involved in making the supply chain more sustainable through technology, this would be great to highlight as a part of your story. And thinking through where do you hope your career in consulting to take you long term. Your strong performance in undergrad will be a benefit to your application – what’s unclear is if you had any quant classes as a part of your Public Health degree. This will help determine how important the GMAT will be for you. If you have fewer or no quant classes, the GMAT will be the evidence that you can handle the quantitative rigor of the program. Sustainability is a global issue and I love that you are looking internationally to a degree. HEC’s lower percentage of women (32% in 2019) compared to other business schools is good for you as well. As you are developing your application, you will need to articulate why HEC specifically. Do you hope to do consulting in Europe post MBA? What resources does HEC have that will help you meeting your goals. Their placement in consulting is great – so that stands behind you. Other clients that I have had interviewing with HEC have been pressed on these issues. I never like to see a 1 school strategy, if you were looking for other international schools strong in sustainability and consulting you might want to look at LBS or Cambridge Judge. Good luck on your GMAT studies and reach out if I can answer any other questions for you.
One factor that makes your application difficult to assess is your GMAT score – or the lack of it.
At first glance 4 years of work experience means your application would really need to be strong, and your post-MBA vision would need to be very clear, focused and achievable. This would be a criteria the MBA admissions officers would focus on.
Having 4 years of work-ex, while below average, isn’t a disqualifying criteria but remember you would be going up against candidates with more experience> hence you would need to demonstrate leadership at the workplace – either via managing direct reports or by clear examples of having shown workplace initiatives.
Anyway, i do recommend that you apply once you have addressed the points above.
Good luck.
