Female leading teams in a manufacturing facility. Love what I do but I’m ready for more. I have worked at one facility in the five years since I graduated college and I’ve become a sort of expert at my facility. I started as a frontline manager running an operation and am now managing a department. I want to make an impact at a higher level.

2021 was a bad year for my department. I took the role of department manager in August of 2021 and we closed out the year in a tough way. However, we turned it around in 2022 and made lots of progress, ultimately winning Team of the Year in 2022.
Operations consultant: ultimately would like to steer my career in the direction of sustainable operations.

It’s always great to come across a profile from a woman with a strong operations background and I imagine the admissions team in North Carolina will also see you as a breath of fresh air. Your goals are well aligned with your existing experience and there are clearly some big wins on your resume, particularly the Team of the Year award following on from what was indeed a terrible year for most manufacturing facilities during the pandemic. I’m guessing there is some background story to your GPA which you will need to clarify, but there is a solid GMAT to compensate so a strong application and a clearly positioned narrative should overcome that. I’d like to know more about your involvement in Charlotte’s urban forest …

I’d like to know more about your involvement in Charlotte’s urban forest project which sounds fascinating so if you have a leadership role here make sure that this is something that stands out in your application – it ties in nicely with Duke’s focus on creating ‘Leaders of Consequence’. If you don’t, now might be the time to step up! All in all I see you as a good bet for your target schools. If you’d like to discuss more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Good luck!
