Academic excellence, combined with experiential learning
Building a career calls for both theoretical training and hands-on practice, while developing a strong professional network. The Desautels Faculty of Management offers MBA students a fully integrated program with experiential learning that addresses the constantly evolving needs of business today and provides exposure to a network of global leaders. After completing our integrated core covering all essentials of business, our MBA students may specialize and take courses from four main areas: Global Strategy and Leadership, Finance, Marketing and Business Analytics, with the opportunity to either do a single or a dual concentration. An array of life-changing experiential learning opportunities are also available over the course of 20 months:
10-Day International Study Trip: Travel together with your cohort to an international destination to expand your global understanding of business through company visits and networking events. This trip is fully funded by the Desautels Faculty of Management. Past destinations include: Tokyo, Singapore, Buenos Aires.
Internships: Pursue a variety of local and/or international internships which provides an invaluable experience in the field of your choice. Internships can be obtained in the Fall, Summer or Winter with several Desautels students landing more than one.
International Exchange: Should you wish to gain additional international exposure, you may choose to study in one of our partner business schools through our exchange program. We have more than 30 partners all across the world.
Practicum: Complete a specialized project under the guidance of an accomplished faculty member. These projects typically include but are not limited to: research paper, business plan, actual case study, etc.

Canada has caught the eye of many international students, offering an up-to-three year work permit to candidates completing a two-year MBA program. One of the greatest advantages that McGill offers to its graduates is to have access to Canada’s two largest job markets: Montreal and Toronto. CEO Speaker Series: Our Faculty regularly holds events with industry leaders who share their insights on a wide range of topics. As an MBA student, you will also have the chance to attend lunches in a small group setting with the various speakers for an open discussion on a broad array of subjects. In addition, CEOs and business leaders are regularly invited to classes as part of the integrated learning experience.

McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship
This year marked the 30th anniversary of the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship (established in 1988). In February, the Centre ranked 8th by UBI Global in the World’s Top Business Incubator – Managed by a University category. The bi-annual ranking recognizes business incubators and accelerators connected with a higher education institution that have achieved excellence in catalyzing startups and in fostering a broader ecosystem of innovation. This year’s ranking considered 1,370 programs, with the McGill Dobson Centre placing among 259 finalists from 53 countries.
This year also marked the 10th edition of the McGill Dobson Cup, with 94 startups competing in this year’s competition powered by National Bank. The awards ceremony was held in April, during which over $100,000 in seed funding was awarded to prize winners across the four tracks.

Taking advantage of a bilingual environment
Concerned about French? No need to be! Many studies show that being multi-lingual can boost your career. As Canada is a bilingual country and Montreal the center of this bilingualism, we invite all of our newly admitted students to come early and attend our complimentary on-campus French classes. Our instructors will help you get through French conversational basics and a certificate of completion will be awarded, allowing you to enhance your resume by adding a new language skill to it.
