The University of Alabama’s Manderson MBA program has been recognized as one of the country’s best by publications such as U.S. News & World Report, which ranked the Manderson MBA among the top-50 for several years in a row. Since 1944, students have had the opportunity to gain experiential learning, professional development, networking, and service opportunities at Manderson.

At Manderson, there are several ways to gain an MBA. Their Traditional MBA program is a two-year, campus based, face-to-face, fixed curriculum program open to all interested candidates. These students select an area of focus as part of their program (Business Analytics, Finance, Financial Risk, Cyber-Security/MIS, Real Estate, Strategic Management & Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations Management).  The STEM Path to the MBA offers a flexible program for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math undergraduate majors to obtain a bachelors and graduate degree in five years. Similar to the STEM Path, the CREATE Path to the MBA allows students in creative undergraduate majors to obtain a bachelors and graduate degree in five years.

The program also has a strong team development focus that begins at orientation with a case competition and extends into the classroom for the entire first year.

“With different paths to obtaining an MBA through our traditional and STEM/CREATE paths, our program brings together students from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. This variety further strengthens our program by infusing diversity in thought and perspectives, which only better prepares our students for a successful career in business,” says Sharif Melouk, Associate Dean of the Manderson Graduate School.

Typically, Manderson welcomes around 170 students a year (50 Traditional +120 STEM/Create Path). To apply, prospective students can expect to submit a personal statement, resume, three recommendation letters, GMAT or GRE scores, and complete an applicant interview.

Aside from the required curriculum, there are many opportunities for students to bring their educational experiences to new heights through national case competitions, career development workshops, and engaging with faculty. Popular at Manderson is the MBA Case Team which competes nationally throughout the year, the National Black MBA platinum sponsor which has high success with internship placement rates, and multiple student clubs such as the Manderson Women in Business, the MBA Student Association, and the National Black MBA student association.
