The Robert H. Smith School of Business MBA: What You Need To Know

Recognizing that today’s business students need flexibility, students have various options for accelerating Smith’s 21-month MBA program should they choose. Smith’s full-time MBA curriculum gives students an understanding of the importance of globalization, entrepreneurship, and technology (GET) in today’s business environment. Throughout the core courses, students explore how globalization, entrepreneurship, and technology are changing business practices, as well as build critical management skills in leadership, teamwork, integrative analysis, and oral and written communication.

GET courses are the pillars of the Smith core and enhance the fundamental courses in such areas as finance, marketing, operations, and management. During the first year, students choose one GET Selective in each of the three areas, providing the flexibility to customize the program with GET courses to meet personal interests and career goals.

Once full-time MBA students complete the required core classes, they may choose to take elective courses at Smith; or they can take a limited number of electives from graduate programs at the broader university, graduate business schools that are members of the Washington, D.C., Consortium, or colleges and universities that have inter-institutional registration agreements with the Smith School.
