The Naveen Jindal School of Management MBA: What You Need To Know

The University of Texas at Dallas’s Naveen Jindal School of Management has a great benefit of being part of the greater university network though the MBA had a small intake of around 50 students. At UT Dallas, things are personal and everyone from program directors to career counselors knows MBAs by name.

The University’s name reflects its affiliation with the University of Texas System, but unbeknown to some, the B-School isn’t actually in Dallas. It’s located in the city of Richardson, just north of Dallas, home to AT&T, Texas Instruments, and Verizon who offer a range of job opportunities particularly in finance, marketing, and management.

The UT Dallas MBA requires a total of 53 credit hours, offers tons of customization with 15 concentrations, 13 dual-degree options, and more than 200 electives.

The 18-month program is flexible and offers the option to extend an extra semester to 21 months based on prospective students’ needs. Most MBAs come to the program with around 5 years of experience, and notably, about 75% of candidates receive scholarships ranging from $1,000 – $35,000 each year.

UT Dallas hosts a two-week LEAD Camp boot camp for the incoming cohort. Leadership, Enhancement, Academic, and Professional Development are fixed into two weeks of seminars, workshops, lectures, and activities as a kickoff to the school year.

UT Dallas MBAs have the support of mentors who meet with them one-on-one, and alumni are often actively involved and guide current students throughout their MBA journey. Students also have opportunities to develop lasting relationships with world-class faculty who are regularly recognized as the top leaders and researchers in their fields.

Outside of the required curriculum, MBAs have multiple case competition opportunities, bi-weekly company site visits, more than 100 companies visiting campus each semester. For working professionals who want to earn their MBA in a format other than the full-time schedule, UT Dallas offers professionals an evening MBA, a Flex MBA, and an Online MBA.

“The program not only gave me the tools I needed to achieve my goal of a rewarding career in a new industry – the in-class experience, a close-knit community of alumni in business and a rigorous curriculum, to name just a few – but I found a group of like-minded professionals who I am proud to call my friends. If I can do it, anyone can do it!” says past MBA Laura Albright on UT Dallas’s site.
