The Terry MBA: What You Need To Know

Georgia’s Terry College of Business offers an exceptional value for a full-time MBA program, ranked in the Top 50 business programs by Poets&Quants. Full-time MBAs can skip the private school costs and get a college town experience in Athens, Georgia while gaining a top-notch business education.

“I think the things I’ve appreciated the most from my MBA experience have been getting to know my classmates and getting to know the Georgia network. It’s a really powerful network with a lot of passionate people who love this university and want to see their students be successful,” says Alex Foye, Class of 2021, in a video on the Georgia Terry website.

Another attraction to the program is the perks that come with spending two years in Athens, Georgia – a true college town less than an hour from Atlanta. Aside from offering many activities and resources, the University of Georgia creates a work hard play hard environment for their MBA students. Several large corporations also call the Athens area home, including Carrier, Hitachi, Caterpillar, Evo-Shield, and Eaton.

Students focus primarily on the core business education in their first semester, then take electives catered to their interests in the spring of their first year.

Terry MBAs can choose a specialization from one or two of nine concentrations, including Business Analytics, Strategy Focus, Entrepreneurship, Finance, FinTech, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Operations Management, Real Estate, Risk Management, and Social Innovation – then customize their degree even further by choosing from three focus areas – Strategy, FinTech, or Social Innovation. Terry also offers the opportunity for students to gain dual degrees in law, public health, pharmacy or medicine.

Alternatively, Terry offers a 1-year MBA for current undergraduates in STEM majors.
The most likely path for a Georgia MBA, according to the latest employment report for the Class of 2022, the top five industries graduates went into were consulting, where about a third of the class landed, then finance, transportation & logistics, retail and technology. An impressive 98% of the Class was employed within three months of graduation, with an average starting salary of $120,510.

Overall, Georgia Terry offers a great route to careers in the southern United States at a very reasonable cost and with a traditional college experience.

“If I were to give advice to someone who is considering an MBA, I would encourage them to focus on what they want to get out of an MBA and really have a purpose… knowing what you want to focus on and what kind of companies or career path you’re pursuing is really going to help you be successful so that you can take the right things away from your core classes,” says Foye.
