The Schulich MBA was ranked No. 1 in Canada by the Economist this year and they welcomed 288 students into the program. At Schulich, flexibility is built into the program. Students can customize their degree by switching between the part-time 16-month program that can be spread out and completed in as many as 40 months, and full-time 20-month program. Courses are located between three campuses – two in Toronto and one in India and have multiple start dates to choose from. Schulich also has an accelerated 8-month option as well for those with Advanced Standing from select school, and a newly offered Weekend and Evening MBA with courses spread over six terms. Prospective Schulich MBAs can choose up to 2 of the 17 specialization areas and are encouraged to select 27 credit hours of electives, allowing for deeper exploration in a particular area of interest. The curriculum is built with experiential learning at its core, with 33 credit hours of foundational courses including the Strategy Field Study – the consulting project spanning two terms, teams conduct a strategic assessment of an organization and its environment, and present recommendations to senior management. Optional ways to globalize the MBA including study tours abroad and semesters abroad. Popular co-curricular activities at Schulich include student-led clubs and events like guest lectures, expert panels and conferences, annual student getaways. Students like to compete with hundreds of other MBAs across Canada in case, spirit and athletic competitions. Entrepreneurial MBAs often enjoy the Entrepreneur-in-Residence biannual start-up competitions, where student entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pitch their new ventures to a panel. Schulich alumni are very active on campus, taking part in seminars and conferences, and volunteering their time as mentors to current Schulich students through the alumni2student mentorship program that offers MBA students 1:1 mentorship experience like the coffee chat program and several speed networking initiatives. Close to 1,000 alumni participate in the mentorship program. “At the heart of the Schulich MBA is an unwavering commitment to developing business leaders who work toward the creation of a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous world. The Schulich MBA is designed to provide you with the resources that you will need as managers and leaders to grow your organizations in ways that contribute to the ethical, environmental, and economic well-being of society,” says MBA program director Ashwin Joshi.
