Hometown: Fayetteville, NC

Fun Fact About Yourself: I have traveled to more foreign countries than I have states in the United States. I grew up in Germany, and I have visited over 32 foreign countries in total.

Undergraduate School and Major: The United States Military Academy at West Point; Business Management and Systems Engineering

Employers and Job Titles Since Graduation: Active Duty US Army Officer

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: In 2013, I deployed to Afghanistan with the Army’s newest Special Forces battalion. Our overall mission was to promote security, governance, and development in the Southern region of Afghanistan. The deployment was fulfilling and rewarding on so many levels. I truly felt like I was making a difference!

Looking back on your experience, what advice would you give to future business school applicants? Start early, and develop a plan. The process may seem long, but time goes by quickly.  Also, know your story. Know what sets you apart from others.

What led you to choose this program for your full-time MBA? I love the atmosphere at Emory University. The climate is one of support and inclusiveness, and the education is top-notch.

Tell us about your dream job or dream employer at this point in your life? My dream employer at this point in my life is Delta Airlines.  I have been in the military for seven years now, and working at Delta will enable me to continue giving back to the community. Additionally, my wife is a physician and we love everything about Atlanta, so Delta would fit into our lives perfectly.

What would you like your business school peers to say about you after you graduate from this program? My business school peers would likely say that I’m a very hard worker, and just a good person in general. I have a big heart, and I’m always looking to give back and help others out. For me, achievement is not enough. I also look for significance in my life.
