Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of the school’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? Studying and working in New York City has always been a dream of mine and I knew that the location would provide me with endless opportunities. Fordham’s business school checked off every box with what I was looking for in an MBA program. As part of my research, I made sure to speak to many alumni and current students to get a sense of life during Fordham and to learn about the possible professional opportunities afterwards.

Everyone I spoke with raved about the tight knit Fordham community and the strong alumni network. They had all procured solid internships and had gone on to work at world-renowned companies. I knew that by joining Fordham’s MBA program, I would be provided with the same resources and opportunities. I wanted a program that would allow for maximum self-development and a transformative two years. After speaking to students and alumni, I was certain Fordham was the place for me.

What has surprised you the most about the Gabelli MBA program? Coming into business school, I truly thought that the majority of my learning would occur in the classroom. What I didn’t realize is that the people you surround yourself with define your education the most and ultimately become your best resources. The societies I’ve joined and the consulting projects I’ve been a part of have become a vital part of my development as an MBA student. The learning opportunities they have provided will be extremely valuable as I move forward in my professional career.

What quality best describes your MBA classmates you’ve met so far and why? Companionable! The Fordham community is just that…a community. It’s been very easy to get along with everyone in the cohort and we all genuinely want to see each other succeed.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Working at the Federal Reserve and having the chance to work behind the scenes on projects that affected the economy as a whole is something I consider to be an accomplishment. Witnessing the work of distinguished economists and understanding how the central bank mitigates crises and manages monetary policy really laid the foundation for my career in the finance industry and it’s something I am very proud to be a part.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? Throughout my school and undergraduate years, I was a very shy student and never spoke up or took part in extra-curricular activities. I knew that I wanted my business school years to be different. I made it a goal to take on as many leadership positions as possible. So far, that’s exactly what I’ve done. I am on the board of the Fordham Finance Society, working to supplement classroom learning for students interested in areas within Finance and Accounting. I’ve also taken on a junior board position on Fordham’s Women in Business Society, working to create a forum of mentoring, teamwork, and numerous networking events for our members. I am also a Graduate Student Ambassador, where I get many opportunities to meet prospective Gabelli students. Taking on these leadership roles in these societies is something I am very proud of and they have all allowed me to evolve into a more confident and well-rounded student.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point in your career? I felt that an MBA would allow me to take my career to the next level.  I wanted to be provided with more leadership opportunities, the ability to achieve well-rounded self-development, and a tight-knit community that would provide support and guidance to accomplish what I set my mind to.

What was your defining moment and how did it prepare you for business school? My defining moment was when I heard my parents’ immigration story. I had never truly understood their sacrifice and the struggle that came with leaving your home country and settling down in a new one. Learning more about how they had to conform to new surroundings and learn a new language, all while raising three kids with minimal financial means, showed me how fortunate I am to have so many opportunities available to me. When presented with a challenge, I am able to think about their work ethic and determination and it is those values that have helped me throughout my professional career and business school.
