What word best describes the Marshall MBA students you’ve met so far and why? To sum up my experience meeting my fellow MBA students in one word, it would be multifaceted. Every student is so different and interesting in all the best ways. Just when you think you have a read on a person, they show you a whole new amazing side of them that engages you even more!

What makes Los Angeles such a great place to earn an MBA?  There is so much impact an individual with an MBA could have in LA, especially for BIPOC community, from healthcare to entertainment and anywhere in between. And it’s for that reason I am excited to be a Trojan and earn my MBA here.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of USC Marshall’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? USC has increasingly become known for their data-driven curriculum, something I definitively wanted to improve upon moving through my career. I recognize how impactful data analytics is for human capital management. And one day, when I have a seat at the table, I want to make sure I have all the skillsets needed to effectively build a strategy to invest in their success.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at USC Marshall? I am super excited to get the chance to join the Leadership and Organizations Club at Marshall! I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the organization and the people. Initially, what immediately drew me in was their tagline, “The Place for “People” People”. If I want to become a promising leader in human capital management, I know this will be the right club for me.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: It was learning how to balance my workload with my personal wellness: mentally, physically, and emotionally. In allowing myself to become immersed with what makes me happy, I have become a better leader and teammate than I ever thought possible.

How did COVID-19 change your perspective on your career and your life in general? I used to think my career revolved around meetings and managing processes in response to unexpected issues. COVID-19 surprisingly gave the time to pace myself and learn how to be more proactive rather than reactive. In that same vein, this energy flowed into my personal life. I wanted to become more proactive about my health for long-term benefit, so I got into home workouts and eating cleaner. I wanted to be more engaged with my community, so I joined online volunteer programs when I could. Overall, it was gaining more sense of self and control in my life during a time that it seemed anything but.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point and what do you hope to do after graduation? It was wanting more for myself, to be honest. I loved my job however was recognizing I was getting comfortable way too fast. As young as I am, I still want to feel challenged in my career so that I am pressured to innovate myself and the space around me.  I hope post-MBA to be a more self-aware businesswoman empowered to bring positive change anywhere I go.

What other MBA programs did you apply to? Georgetown McDonough and Boston University Questrom
