What word best describes the Tuck MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far and why? Visionary. Aside from being kind and grounded individuals, I believe this is the most striking quality of classmates and alumni I have met. They are reimagining industries to be more sustainable, ethical, and efficient. I am eager to see the positive change their efforts will bring society.

Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of Dartmouth Tuck’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The setting: I was intentional in choosing a school that would make networking with my peers be the central focus. I liked that Tuck was not in a big city and that my classmates would be a self-selected group who had decided to put their “outside lives” on pause, prioritizing the chance to share a meaningful learning experience together.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Dartmouth Tuck? It’s not necessarily one activity or course, but the way that the program office intentionally combines people of different backgrounds for small group projects and learning teams. It teaches you to tackle problems in new and different ways.

What excites you the most about coming to live in Hanover? What is the one activity you can’t wait to do? I’ve been excited about learning how to ski! I want to try something new—push myself out of my comfort zone and connect with nature.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Driving revenue growth for a large pharmaceutical client during a time that market and company morale was at an all-time low (due to a pipeline drug being rejected).

How did COVID-19 change your perspective on your career and your life in general? COVID prompted my past company to shift to a remote working model. This allowed me to travel home and spend time with my family, in my hometown, after the many years I had spent living and working abroad. Seeing the economic ramifications of COVID on my city reinvigorated me in my mission to one day contribute to stimulating economic opportunity and local job-creation in Nepal.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point and what do you hope to do after graduation? I wanted to develop a foundation of general management education and gain exposure to finance, accounting, and best business practices from a world-class faculty and peers of diverse industries and social backgrounds. I wanted to equip myself so I may run a successful business down the line, in the long run.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Dartmouth Tuck’s MBA program? Lean into your purpose and let it guide your application story. If no one in your family or community is familiar with the MBA or higher education, do not doubt yourself: there is a place for you at Tuck and you are welcome. If you find yourself lost or overwhelmed in the application process, reach out to students; Tuckies are always happy to speak about their experiences and things they got right and wrong on their journey.
