Tell Us About Yourself

Back in 1988, when I was management editor of BusinessWeek magazine, I created the first regularly published rankings of full-time MBA programs. The Best Business Schools quickly became a major BusinessWeek franchise. I expanded our coverage to include executive education. I wrote the first of four editions of BusinessWeek’s comprehensive guidebooks to the best business schools, and in the mid-1990s I built the magazine’s business school presence on the web. I turned this area of coverage over to many outstanding journalists over the years, including Jennifer Reingold of Fortune, David Leonhardt of The New York Times, Jennifer Merritt of The Wall Street Journal, while I moved on to other things. Along the way, I wrote 58 cover stories for BusinessWeek, authored or co-authored eight business books, including two New York Times’ bestsellers, and had the privilege of leading Fast Company magazine as editor-in-chief, BusinessWeek magazine as executive editor, and BusinessWeek.com as editor-in-chief, before leaving to start my own digital media company, C-Change Media, in 2010. Poets&Quants is our first launch and for me it represents a return to an area of business coverage that I greatly enjoy if not love. The goal is to create a highly engaged environment where thoughtful, serious and creative analysis of business education can flourish. Help me achieve that goal by becoming an active community member who adds value–not blather–to help applicants make the best choices for themselves and to help improve the state of business education in the world.
