The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School strives to shape business leaders who seize opportunity, inspire change, and create lasting value — and has been doing so since launching its MBA program in 1999. The main campus is situated in Baltimore’s Harbor East neighborhood, home to the full-time MBA program. Once composed of factories and businesses from Baltimore’s industrial past, Harbor East is considered the city’s new business hub and the pulse for innovation in Baltimore. Carey’s neighbors range from established firms to newly relocated ventures and thriving start-ups – making it an ideal location to practice business.

The Carey MBA was recently reimagined, with double the number of experiential learning courses available to students. The program now requires the Big Data Consulting Project course that partners students with leading companies to gain practical experience with business challenges and an Innovation Field Project, where students go on-site to work directly with partner organizations across different industries and sectors throughout the country. The NEXT program is another key component — MBA students are paired with a personal team of advisors including an industry leader, faculty member, and career coach.

Also, perhaps for the first time in an American business school, the full-time MBA program requires a course in artificial intelligence.

“Today’s MBA market is extremely competitive, but we’ve found the formula that provides students with skills to tackle the challenges of a complex business environment. The Carey MBA includes a required course in artificial intelligence, an experiential learning course in Big Data consulting, and each student is paired with a mentorship team that will help prepare graduates for what’s next,” says Dean Alex Triantis.
