Fun Fact About Yourself: A fun fact about me is that I have played competitive soccer since I was 4 years old and plan to continue competing in adult leagues until my 50s. Soccer has provided me with invaluable lessons in competition, teamwork, managing both positive and negative outcomes, and effectively adapting to new situations, all of which have been pivotal to my ongoing success.

What were some of the key motivating factors behind pursuing your MBA, and why did this seem like the right time for you?

I am driven by a constant desire to push my boundaries and expand my knowledge. I am pursuing my MBA to accelerate my personal and professional growth, and this was the right time for me to do so because I feel ready to tackle new challenges and leverage advanced skills to make a significant impact in my field.

What are one or two key aspects of this MBA program that stood out among the others, and why were they so important to you?

The UCR Graduate MBA Program’s strong focus on entrepreneurship and its unique emphasis on global business strategy stood out. These aspects are crucial for me because they align with my goal of fostering innovative ventures and navigating complex international markets.

What club, activity, or experience at the school have you most enjoyed so far, and why?

Meeting my UCR graduate cohort at orientation has been the highlight of my experience so far. It was incredible to connect with like-minded individuals who are all eager to make a significant impact and collaborate towards achieving our shared goals.

What is your biggest accomplishment in your career so far?

My biggest accomplishment has been progressing from an inside sales representative to a senior sales role within a year, and ultimately, managing a multimillion-dollar annual revenue region. This achievement reflects my growth, strategic vision, and ability to drive significant business results.

What is one thing you have recently read, watched, or listened to that you would highly recommend to other prospective MBAs? Why?

I highly recommend How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It provides essential principles for structuring your mindset and effectively interacting with others in the business world, which is foundational for building strong professional relationships and achieving success.

What are two things you have learned at your school that have surprised you so far — one academic and one non-academic?

Academically, I was surprised by the depth of real-world case studies incorporated into the curriculum, which provided practical insights beyond traditional theories. Non-academically, I was impressed by the strong sense of community and collaborative spirit among students, fostering a supportive environment that enhances both personal and professional growth.

What has been the biggest epiphany you’ve gained about yourself or the world since you started your MBA program?

The biggest epiphany I’ve had is the profound impact of high-quality academic material on real-world application. Integrating theoretical knowledge with practical strategies will empower me to navigate complex challenges and seize opportunities more adeptly in my career.

What advice would you give to help prospective MBAs as they look to gain admission into an MBA program?

My advice for prospective MBAs is to be thoroughly prepared and dedicated throughout the application process. Approach each step with effectiveness and genuine excitement, ensuring that your actions reflect true intent. Commit wholeheartedly to the idea of growth, embrace challenges that push you out of your comfort zone, and avoid complacency to truly maximize your potential.
