Consultant Bio

Hi, I’m Angela, and I’m a lifelong student of human nature. I’m fascinated by what it means to be human, what unites us, and how we can fulfill our true potential. I also believe that life is supposed to be fun, and therefore, so is work. During my nearly 20-year professional development career, I have helped thousands of people (mostly MBAs) uncover their unique character, values, and professional desires, so that they can shine in any environment, get everything they want in their careers, and have more fun along the way. Working with me means you’ll be more self-aware, more self-confident, and better connected in your community.

After my MBA at Chicago Booth, I did my apprenticeship in business at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). I was a consultant, and then I shifted to a training and recruiting role: I coached women from top 10 business schools through BCG’s recruiting process and then later to succeed at the firm. Some other cool stuff I have done that I use every day in my work: I’m a trained screenwriter, experiential philosopher (I have a degree from Yale to prove it!), and a lover of Eastern thought, mindfulness, and meditation.

Company Information

OK you’re smart, so you’ve probably read a lot of these. Here’s how we’re the same as some admissions consultants out there: in our elite school packages, we touch every single part of your application for your target schools as many times as we need to until the finished product inspires both you and us. We bring over a decade of expertise to bear, and we do all of this on a predictable timeline. Much more interesting, though, is what makes Career Protocol different. We’re not really consultants. We’re teachers. Career Protocol is a Professional Development Firm.

We think the MBA application process is a golden opportunity to uplevel your professional profile and executive skillset BEFORE you take the leap into the MBA. So instead of simply editing your essays, we use the MBA application as a training ground for new capabilities that will last you a lifetime.

Menu of Services and Associated Costs

THE IRRESISTIBLE MBA APPLICATION PACKAGE

Think of the Irresistible MBA Application Package (as we call it) as a nearly year-long course in executive-level self-awareness, communication, and relationship building skills tailored to your needs and experiences. We work with you on every aspect of the MBA application not only to maximize your chances of success but also to uplevel your executive skillset in the process. Your Career Protocol Instructor will teach you how to explore your values, tell epic stories, and build genuine relationships with your fellow humans in everything you do (yes, even when you’re just writing an MBA application!) so that you can have the impact you want to have in your career. Imagine how empowered you’ll feel the first day of class knowing that you used the whole year prior to your MBA building key leadership skills with an experienced teacher by your side.

If you want someone to edit your essays, work with friends and family. If you want to transform your ability to stand out for the rest of your career as the bright shiny unicorn* you are, work with us.

*We mean unicorn in the one-of-a-kind-unique sense, not in the instagrammy** rainbow sense.

** We do like instagrammy rainbow unicorns, tho. Especially the cupcake kind.

  • The Angela Guido Show: 100% Certified Fresh Tomatoes
    2 years ago
Angela truly is a ROCKSTAR. Angela has been an amazing mentor throughout entirety of my business school experience; her YOMO course was awesome in prepping for my career-switch ahead, and she was there as my support system with wise words and humor throughout the whole process. If you want to work with someone who will actually make any part of the business school / career search process fun, look no further. Working with Angela took me on a journey through my past chock-full of self-discovery and self-realization around every turn, leading to a well-laid out story for my successful career switch. Granted, she will have you work your tail off to squeeze all of the potential out of you, but it will be more than worth ...

  • YOMO, For Career Explorers and Hunters, Alike

I signed on for Angela's You Only MBA Once (YOMO) course, which turned out to be instructive, inspirational and fairly comprehensive. YOMO was great for me, because it was fairly priced, far cheaper than a one-to-one careers advisor session and it still covered all the bases. In fact, it did a better job than a top MBA school's careers advisor did and I later introduced the course to my other MBA friends. Those who signed on loved the course as much as I did, because it was well structured, covering the basic areas like CV, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, and also going into areas like what you value and what you want. Every topic starts with a video and there are downloadable PDF files that provide ...

  • So thankful to have worked with Angela Guido!
Although I had a well thought out story to communicate during the MBA application process, I was still unsure which career I wanted to pursue. Therefore, after getting into business school, I approached Angela to help me clarify my career goals and MBA recruiting strategy. My first assignment was to fill out a document that captured my accomplishments, failures, preferences, etc. and I exhaustively completed it. I wrote a ton and provided a bunch of supporting documents from performance reviews to journal entries to personality assessments. I totally overloaded Angela with information about me and needed her to help make sense of it all and find themes. In fact, I was desperate for thoughtful feedback. I had hit a wall personally and professionally ...

  • Kept me on my toes!
As a marketing and branding nerd, I've always been fairly well in tune with how I've conveyed my personal brand. My resume has always been up to date, LinkedIn on point, and I've worked on creating value for others through my strong network. Or so I thought... After an hour long consultation with Angela on my resume, I realized just how much work I had ahead of me. Even in that short time, Angela was able to challenge my thinking and get me to see the benefits of truly starting to break down my resume and build it back up -- and as someone who is fairly headstrong, this is not an easy feat. She gave strategic advice on how to frame the resume and supported ...

  • Angela is the best!
I met Angela through the Forte Foundation’s MBA Launch program and her insights were instrumental to my success in the business school admissions process. Employing the advice she gave us Launchers, I was accepted to multiple schools with a total of $340K of scholarships. But in the end, Angela's coaching has been even more valuable to me since I started my MBA at an M7 school last fall. Coming from a nontraditional background as a creative liberal arts major working at a small nonprofit, I knew I needed extra oomph to succeed in the ultra-competitive MBA summer internship and job search. This led me back to Angela, this time as her student in two of her online courses, YOMO (You Only MBA Once) and SPITR ...

  • Simply the best!!
I'm currently an MBA student and I have been working with Angela throughout the years. She has been instrumental in my career development and I can't thank her enough. She gave me the type of confidence that I needed to keep pushing forward and just knowing that she had my back every step of the way motivated me so much. I had a very different and non-traditional background than most MBA students so my learning curve was quite steep. Working with Angela and completing both her YOMO and SPITR programs have greatly benefited my learning. Not only was I able to immediately put that learning into practice, I also learned how to think in new perspectives when approaching my career. Angela is so much more ...

  • The Career Coach everyone needs
I first discovered Angela the summer before business school, during a forte foundation networking prep call and i was immediately struck by her deep sense of engagement and exceptional communication skills. Fast forward, i started business school in the fall (i attend an M7 business school) and recruiting for summer internships started shortly thereafter. The whole experience was nerve-wrecking, and while I got an internship in the industry i wanted, i did not get an offer from my dream firm. I started to question my overall communication style and to some extent, my competence for the role and that definitely negatively impacted my confidence. I remembered Angela and quickly searched for her to take advantage of her 30-min complimentary initial 'diagnosis' and like one ...

  • Angela's Interview Hero Course FTW!!
Prior to MBA interviews, the only thing I had ever interviewed for was my college internship. I crushed those college interviews, but that was .... 8 years ago. “Rusty” didn’t even begin to describe how I felt about interviewing for my MBA. I had learned some things via my Forte MBALaunch fellowship and other admissions consulting services, but they weren’t quite doing it for me. So I signed up for Angela’s Interview Hero course and it CHANGED MY LIFE. Not only did I crush my MBA interviews, I also became a better storyteller in other settings as well - at work, in public speaking, and in friendships. I closely followed the modules that I thought would help me the most, did my “reflection” homework, and ...

  • A true coach
Do you dread talking about career goals in your MBA Application process? I certainly did. I was not afraid of tests and essays, but I was terrified about talking about myself and my journey because, frankly, I didn't have a clue how to share what I wanted to do! A lot of my fellow MBA applicants fall into this category - we have a nebulous understanding of our strengths and career dreams, and don't know how to crystallize them into a story. Angela completely changed that for me. Unlike other consultants and advice-givers, Angela starts with YOU as the individual, and forces you to reflect very deeply about yourself. For her, the process of reflection and career mapping is central to the MBA process, and ...

  • She understands!
During an interview at a well known record label, a hiring manager looked at my resume, then me, and said with exasperation, "I don't understand why you are applying for this job. Your path makes no sense to me." While I had a clear vision for the path I wanted to take, I've struggled to help others understand. Angela is the first consultant who has understood my career path and my future goals within minutes. She saw connections that I see, but which I've struggled to communicate to others. In just the first session alone, Angela provided clear advice with tangible action items that gave me confidence to move forward with the daunting MBA application journey. Her passion for learning and understanding others is infectious ...
