Consultant Bio
What matters most to you? Do you truly know? Having to answer this existential question in a short story that captures your strengths and stands out among thousands of applicants can be overwhelming. That’s exactly how I felt when I applied to business school. I’d never had to put my thoughts, feelings, and life experiences into actual words. And as a girl from the South Side of Chicago, self-doubt started to creep in. Was I even good enough for a top business school? Three months went by and I was still staring at a blank screen. And with an 80-hour a week investment banking schedule, I was ready to give up. That’s until my best friend put sticky notes all over my mirror every morning reminding me that I am amazing (thank you, Maria).
I’m glad I didn’t give up. Attending Harvard Business School was transformational and opened up the world to me. And although I followed a post-MBA path that differs from what I wrote about in my essays, I know that my MBA experience gave me a platform to discover what matters to me and to meaningfully impact people’s lives.
Today, I know that what matters most to me is championing diversity, inspiring confidence, and giving talented people a pathway for maximizing their potential. The MBA application process is tough and it can be even more challenging for non-traditional or underrepresented candidates who lack role models or social capital, or even overrepresented finance applicants who have not reflected deeply on their life experiences. I am changing this by demystifying the MBA application process for diverse, high-potential leaders by giving them the tools they need to be reflective about their pasts and intentional about their futures.
In 15 years, I’ve coached over 500 young professionals. 9 out of 10 have made it into the school of their choice and earned over $18 million in scholarships. Through my Application Breakthrough MethodTM, I solve four problems:
• I demystify the MBA application process by teaching you the building blocks of a successful application, and how to discover your career potential and tell your authentic story.
• The MBA application process can feel like a race, and sometimes it’s difficult to know if you’re running fast enough. I leverage my experience across over 1,500 applications to provide reference points and a constant feedback loop to help you gain momentum and stay motivated.
• I know that your work schedule is busy. And the reality is that it’s hard to find time to do hard things. So instead of struggling to balance your application and your career, I will provide you with a structured process and a project plan in Asana for completing your 20+ application deliverables without feeling overwhelmed.
• More than an application process, I help you embrace a new mindset. Just like my best friend did for me, I share “sticky notes” to help you see how special you are. With self-awareness exercises to uncover your unique value-add, self-doubt and imposter syndrome evolves into confidence and motivation.
I have an undergraduate degree in finance and psychology from Washington University and started my career in investment banking at JPMorgan. Since getting my MBA from Harvard Business School, I’ve worked in tech, consulted startups, co-founded a nonprofit, and coached 500+ people from 45+ countries. I was a consultant at mbaMission for 12 years before launching my practice. During my coaching career, I’ve learned how to quickly assess talent, understand my clients’ diverse experiences, and motivate them to go for their dreams. I’ve met some AMAZING people around the world and I’ve realized that we all have a common need to maximize our potential. I’m passionate about helping talented people access the education and opportunities that will transform their lives.
