After graduating from university, I started at a small supply chain/logistics company as a marketing analyst. Shortly after I started, the company was acquired by a search fund. I’ve worked my way up from marketing analyst to lead one of our business units, reporting directly to the CEO (GSB alum). I manage a team of 4 and own an $11MM P&L.

There aren’t many MBA applicants responsible for managing an $11 million P&L. So congrats to you. It shows that your Stanford MBA boss has great respect and admiration for your skills. It should offset your low 2.92 GPA in chemistry at a public Ivy, though you really need to make the point that your undergraduate transcript is not indicative of your academic potential and explain why that is the case. I am also going to assume that your firm is not well-known to adcoms so you need to provide detail about the company, including the fact that the CEO is a Stanford MBA, so they can put your achievements in some perspective. Generally, smaller companies are less selective in their hiring practices than well-known organizations so you need to assure them that is not the case here. You don’t present any extras so I will assume you don’t have anything special there which would really rule out Stanford even if your boss agrees to write a rec for you.
