Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University offers a flex MBA on their campus in Hempstead, Long Island NY – just 25 miles east of New York City. Hofstra became Long Island’s first private university in March of 1963. The B-school is in a 52,000 sq. ft. building which is home to one of the largest academic trading rooms in the nation. The flex MBA is designed to fit into a students’ professional and personal schedule, with full and part-time options, on-campus or online. Most everything about the MBA is customizable. MBAs usually come to Hofstra with anywhere from no work experience to five years of experience, and although the program is considered a two-year degree, Hofstra MBAs have up to five years to complete it. This year, the B-school had a total of 71 MBAs enrolled – 75% of which are international students. Hofstra’s Flex MBA offers a range of concentrations all of which are STEM designated, in Accounting, Business Analytics, Business Operations & Healthcare Analytics, Cybersecurity Management & Policy, Finance, Health Services Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Sports & Entertainment Management. A highlight of the program is the opportunity to participate in a co-op, where students can work in a full-time and paid position within their field of study while earning their degree. Both domestic and international students are eligible, and they must have 18 credit hours under their belt to participate in the program. There are numerous benefits – MBAs can immediately apply what they learn in class, make local connections, gain 3 – 5 months of paid experience, and build their resume. Outside of the required curriculum, there’s plenty of ways for students to connect and get extra experience through conferences, competitions, student organizations, and attending the executive speaker series with lectures from companies like Bayer, FTI Consulting, JPMorgan Chase & Co., MLB, Nasdaq, and Northwell Health. “When I completed the co-op, they offered me a full-time position here at Northwell. The co-op is six to eight months, which is longer than an internship, so you can get in-depth knowledge as well as be a part of a company where you are an important person in helping them make decisions,” says Hofstra MBA Tania Chakraborty in a YouTube video.
