MSc Risk Management & Financial Engineering is a one-year, full-time programs designed to prepare students for careers in investment, private equity and asset management. The program provides a strong theoretical grounding and draws on some of the world’s best research in asset pricing. It is also highly practical, allowing students to find solutions to real-world investment challenges with a strong emphasis on programming and implementation of investment strategies. Students have the opportunity to complete an Applied Project, or take part in a work placement. A wide range of electives are continually updated to enable students to tailor their learning to match career aspirations.
The program has one intake each year in September.
Before starting the program, students will complete online pre-study modules which will give a basic knowledge of areas which will be covered throughout the academic year. For the first month of the program students will study Foundation modules designed to introduce the modern tools of finance. Throughout the autumn and spring terms students will develop a financial base with core modules covering topics such as Investments and Portfolio Management, Risk Management and Valuation, Empirical Finance and Financial Engineering. Students have the chance to tailor their learning by choosing from a wide range of electives in the spring and summer terms. Finally, to complement the teaching, students will choose between two types of research projects, in order to develop specialist skills and subject knowledge to benefit their future career.
