The Master of Science in Accounting (MS Accounting) degree provides students who have a background in accounting with additional accounting knowledge, solid critical thinking skills, and a basic understanding of leadership best practices. The program provides the additional hours needed to qualify to sit for the CPA exams.
The MS Accounting program is a 36-39 credit hour program. Students begin classes in August or January. The MS Accounting program is primarily designed for students who have undergraduate degrees in accounting. However, exceptional candidates from other disciplines may be considered for admission. This degree program does not require a thesis. The MS Accounting curriculum offers a strong foundation in the assurance services and information management or tax consulting and financial planning with courses in accounting, accounting communications, finance, information systems, business law and accounting ethics. Students will complete Texas’ 150-hour educational requirement for the CPA examination upon completion of their degree program. MS Accounting students also have the option to take a review course and complete most sections of the CPA exam during their final semester of coursework.
