D.C. is a global and diverse city that has so much to offer culturally. And of course, the proximity to government, politics, law, history, business, and international organizations is something you cannot access to the same extent in other cities. Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Georgetown McDonough’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The Global Business Experience was a key part of McDonough’s programming for me. I definitely wanted to travel abroad during my MBA, and it was important to join a program where I could develop the mindset and skills to be successful in the global business environment. It was clear that Georgetown placed a lot of value on developing global business leaders, and I can already see how much the theme of global business is woven into our classes and projects. What course, club or activity excites you the most at Georgetown McDonough? I’m looking forward to participating in a few clubs, specifically Graduate Women in Business, MBA Volunteers, and Hoyas Playing Tennis – it’s a great way to stay active and do something social with classmates outside the classroom. Georgetown McDonough programming focuses heavily on instilling a global mindset. Why is exposure to global diversity so critical to business success? In today’s business world, no matter what career path you choose, you will have to collaborate successfully with people who have a different background than you. Having a global mindset will make you not only more comfortable but more skilled at navigating today’s global business environment. In fact, nearly 50% of McDonough’s Class of 2025 are international students, so I’m already getting exposure to global diversity and gaining valuable experience collaborating across different cultures. Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: I worked at an executive search firm for several years before my most recent position. I’m proud of collaborating with global colleagues to provide impactful solutions for our clients. I focused particularly on the retail and leisure and hospitality industries, two of the industries that were most negatively impacted by the pandemic. I think my biggest accomplishment was weathering that storm as much as possible, and continuing to serve our clients’ needs despite truly unprecedented and disruptive challenges to their businesses. Looking ahead two years, what would make your MBA experience successful? I’m focused on successfully pivoting my career and securing a full-time job post-MBA. I’d also love to make many new friends, travel abroad, and become a more experienced and well-rounded leader. What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Georgetown McDonough’s MBA program? Identify what it is that makes the McDonough experience unique and think about how you would take full advantage of those aspects. Do your research about Georgetown’s values and envision how you would embody those values as an MBA student here. DON’T MISS: MEET GEORGETOWN MCDONOUGH’S MBA CLASS OF 2025
