What excites you most about studying in Washington, DC? It would be the exciting blend of intellectual growth and networking prospects with people from different backgrounds and industries, as well as exploring the diverse historical and social scenes the city has to offer.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Georgetown McDonough’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The program’s profound commitment to diversity is one thing that led me to choose McDonough for my MBA. It fosters an inclusive community that enriches learning, offers diverse perspectives, and cultivates well-rounded business leaders. As an international student, these are all characteristics I look for in the program and the overall academic environment I plan to immerse myself in.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Georgetown McDonough? Analytics for Nonprofits is a club that particularly caught my attention while doing my research on the school because, in the long run, I would love to provide consulting services to resource-limited social impact organizations such as my foundation. Therefore. this club, in addition to the many resources available on campus, will serve as a great avenue for me to do so.

Georgetown McDonough programming focuses heavily on instilling a global mindset. Why is exposure to global diversity so critical to business success? Exposure to global diversity empowers businesses to better understand and navigate a multicultural world which can be beneficial to various aspects of the business such as unlocking new opportunities, improving decision-making, and fostering a more inclusive and dynamic corporate culture that contributes to long-term success. In my most recent job role at Maersk, which is the world’s leader in ocean/freight logistics, adopting a global mindset was necessary in order to decipher which market strategies will work in a particular country as opposed to another.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Though very personal, I’d say my biggest career accomplishment is the humanitarian/nonprofit foundation I co-founded a few years ago. The foundation is called the S.H.E. Rises Foundation and it is an organization that seeks to educate and empower young girls in Ghana. Our main areas of focus are education and health. Some things we do include organizing fundraisers, hosting educational or health-related workshops, and donating various items. Doing this means a lot to me because I know that at the end of the day, we are positively impacting the lives of many people around us regardless of how big or small it may be.

Looking ahead two years, what would make your MBA experience successful?  Growing as a leader and an individual as a whole, building meaningful connections, and expanding my knowledge while making a positive impact and serving people within and beyond the Georgetown community.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Georgetown McDonough’s MBA program? You wouldn’t be applying to Georgetown if you didn’t think it was a great fit. So be your true, authentic self, share your story, and let the admissions team know why all the traits that make you a unique individual will allow you to bring a lot of value to McDonough’s MBA program. Most importantly, remember that if I could do it, then you can too!
