I recently finished grad school. I did poorly in college due to illness (which has since been treated), but did fairly well in my MS. I really enjoyed the statistical training of it and am considering an MBA. Before grad school, I worked as an analyst for a small fin-tech firm, but I’ve also worked in restaurants, dorms, and led research.

I enjoy hiking, and hiked from the top of NC to the southern border in four days when I was 17. Despite my mediocre grades, I finished college in three years.
I’d like to become a consultant, preferably at a large firm. I’d like to be able to use my background in research and knowledge of social psychology.

Hi Mr. Gay Social Scientist, This is Donna Bauman with Stratus Admissions. The biggest question you may face is convincing someone you now need an MBA right after your other Master’s program. So be prepared to answer that question. I would also like to see you say more about an industry or problem that interests you. I see you have some fintech background but it looks like your strong interest is in urban policy. So be prepared to answer that question. I would also like to see you say more about an industry or problem that interests you. I see you have some fintech background but it looks like your strong interest is in urban policy. When you think about consulting, rather than just naming the big firms, think about some of the niche firms that may value your background and how you can leverage your social sciences background in your post MBA role. While the 2.75 is not a stellar GPA as you know, I have seen clients be successful getting into programs similar to your school list with gpas in this range. Your 740 GMAT helps a lot to show that you can handle the rigor of the work in an MBA program. You may want to look at programs with strong social impact groups and conferences—I can see your interest in Yale and I also think it is wise as you have done to have a few other programs on your list. Beyond the ones you mention, consider Fuqua, Olin, Ross, UNC Kenan-Flagler and Haas. Please reach out if you would like to discuss your profile further in a free consult.
Do you hold a tribal ID card? If not my odds go down to 10%. Native Americans are the single most underrepresented group by an enormous margin.
