Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. It’s not every day that I get to see the profile of a successful physical therapist! I’d really like to understand more about your career goal – why do you want to pursue consulting? It’s a very big career transition, and programs will want to know 1. what motivates this goal based on your experiences and observations to date and 2. the transferrable skills you’ll bring to this role. Make sure you reflect on this fully so that you can make a strong case. Also, be aware that you are above the average age/years of work experience for the typical MBA candidate, so you’ll want to explain why NOW is the right time to get an MBA (which of course, involves explaining what drew you to your post-MBA goal).
I hope that this helps a bit – best of luck!
Mr. Healthcare Provider – Thanks for sharing your profile. Susan Cera here from Stratus.
Having personally spent MANY hours in physical therapy post-surgery, I value the work that you and your colleagues do as part of the overall healthcare landscape. I suspect that you are looking at UNC Kenan-Flagler specifically to transition into healthcare consulting. If this is the case, I think you have a very good shot. You will need to connect the dots between your experience to date and the impact that you hope to have as a consultant. If you are looking at more general strategy consulting, I think this will be a less compelling story and your odds of success will be dramatically lower.
Wishing you the best on your application journey!
