Hi Ms. Banker! This is JP, Senior Consultant with The MBA Exchange. I rate your chances at 50% for your target schools, based on my experience working with many applicants with profiles similar to yours over the years. Getting in will require plenty of hard work especially to differentiate yourself against your peers from India. But you don’t seem to be afraid of effort, so combined with the right guidance, I believe you can reach success! If you want to discuss further, email me at jpo@mbaexchange.com.
Hello Ms. Banker! Krista Nannery from mbaMission here! Thanks for posting. I see that you are 28 but only have 2.5 years of work experience, which puts you on the lower end of the experience spectrum for b-school. You also say you are an “ex-banker,” so my natural question is if you are an “ex-banker,” what are you doing now? Getting into b-school can be tough, and it can be especially tough if you are not currently in the workforce. If this is the case for you, I’d encourage you to either seek employment OR broaden your school selection. This will help you maximize your options. Re your GMAT, assuming you did decently well on Quant (46+,), I’d love to see you try the test again to get your score up. With a GPA that’s the equivalent of 2.8 on the US scale, you’ll want to pull every lever you can to strengthen your candidacy. All this being said, I think you’ve put together a realistic list of schools. I’d feel more secure with a 680 GMAT and more insight into your work experience, if that makes sense. I hope that helps! Krista
Low GMAT and GPA for Emory and especially for an Indian. Need to really retake the GMAT test, especially in light of your GPA.
Low GRE accompanied by a low GPA.
Ex-banker, but current employment–if any–is not revealed. This raises questions & doubts.
