Hi, Ms. Healthcare Startup. This is Julie-Anne Heafey with mbaMission. I like your odds very much – you seem like a real risk taker, which is important for success in the entrepreneurial world, and I’m guessing you’re a hands-on person who likes to seize opportunities, which strikes me as a wonderful fit with Ross’s action-oriented approach. On top of that, your stats are good, you were a college Division I athlete, and you completed multiple fellowships, including a Fulbright. Wow! My only advice to you is to help the adcom understand why someone who seems so impact-oriented wants to pivot to what is essentially a role of influence and advice-giving, even if only for a few years, instead of joining a company where you can make more of a direct impact right away. Hello Ms Heathcare Startup, it’s Lisa Cummings of Stratus Admissions. You have a really interesting and impressive background and your stats are solid. Your blurb here is a great introduction, you have pulled me in and made me want to earn more about you. That’s great! As a former adcomm at MIT Sloan, I have reviewed a lot of applicants from entrepreneurs. There are a lot of really interesting nuggets in here but I want to know more. What did you pursue in your Fulbright and the other Fellowship? How did/do those tie onto your goals? I also want to learn more about your startup- what kind of company was it and what role did you play? Your past experience makes it easy to see how you could segue into healthcare consulting and then back into a startup. But you need to paint that picture for your target schools – concentrate on the impact that you have had in your roles. Specifics on your impact would help round out your file.
