Gies College of Business

The Gies College of Business MBA curriculum is a unique blend of classroom discussion and action learning as well as real-world projects and simulations. The first-year core curriculum focuses on essential business topics that provide a solid business foundation. In the second year, students choose from a list of electives that allows them to customize their academic concentration to match career objectives.

Students can pursue a traditional MBA track, specializing in finance, operations, marketing, or other business fields, or they can complete a joint degree, combining interests in business with passions for other academic disciplines, such as engineering, architecture, social work, and many other subjects.

Outside the classroom, there is flexibility too. Students can choose from an array of experiential learning opportunities to complement the MBA experience, from studying abroad to starting a business to designing an internship.

Illinois has not published in its employment report its top employers, preferring to list all of the firms that hired the school’s graduates.
