Paul College of Business and Economics aims to “excite, engage, and empower” its students, shaping them into self-assured business professionals. For those looking to complete their degree in no time, this AACSB-accredited school’s 48-credit, one-year, full-time MBA packs the knowledge and skills associated with a two-year MBA into just one year. Approximately an hour and a half drive from Boston, five hours from New York City, and an hour from Portland, Maine, the campus is a center point for students curious to explore businesses across New England. The school is centrally located between multiple renowned companies like Liberty Mutual, Fidelity Investments, and Lonza Biologics; three of many in the surrounding area. Outdoor enthusiasts are right at home on their Durham campus, which is located close to New Hampshire’s seacoast and about an hour and a half away from some of the nation’s best hiking in the White Mountains and recreation in the Lakes Region. Paul College was designed for academic collaboration, with a bright and airy Great Hall and other spaces that support team-based learning. This is the way it has been since graduating the first class in 1965, adding value to the cohort-based model. The program promotes small class sizes, averaging 28-32, with personalized attention and building strong, close relationships in mind. Specializations aren’t required but are offered in Finance, Information Systems & Business Analytics, Marketing, Global Business, Growth and Innovation and Hospitality Management. Along with core business courses, electives are taken alongside online MBA and part-time MBA students, allowing for extensive networking and learning opportunities within a variety of industries. The program requires students to participate in an internship to put their knowledge to practice in real-world experience. Students also have the option to travel abroad for an international residency trip, to places such as China to explore that specific country’s best business practices. Students practice solving real-world business problems in their corporate consulting project course, where small teams are paired with an organization to practice business consulting. At the end of the project, teams present their recommendations to their respective organization. “One thing I love about our full-time MBA program is its intimate size – small enough for students to get to know each other, and small enough for faculty to get to know each student and their career journey which supports their exploration and networking. We find that relationships formed within each cohort last long after commencement,” says Associate Dean Victoria Parker
