The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) at Washington University’s Olin Business School is a rigorous and comprehensive graduate program that offers in-depth training in securities research, asset management, derivative pricing, and fixed income for students pursuing specialized finance careers.
Washington University’s MSF program attracts applicants with a broad range of academic experience in the areas of finance, economics, statistics, engineering, life sciences, and mathematics. Prior internship or work experience is recommended, though not required, for admission to the program.
In the Corporate Finance & Investments (MSFC) track, students take a significant amount of course work alongside finance-oriented MBA students. The 11-month, three-semester (summer, fall, spring) program consists of 30.5 hours of graduate-level course credit. A minimum 3.0 grade point average must be maintained for graduation eligibility.
There is also an accelerated MSF track designed for undergraduates to complete their MSF degree in summer semesters following junior and senior years.
Working professionals in the St. Louis area can pursue the MSFC program on a part-time basis. This track offers the convenience of allowing students to earn their degree taking courses part-time, in the evening. Part-time students can begin taking courses in the fall or spring semester.
For students who do not have any prior experience or training in finance, concentrated Foundation courses in both finance and accounting are offered to prepare for the program curriculum.
