Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of the MBA curriculum or activities that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? It appeals to me to learn business in a city rich with international business; I look forward to building a network in Hong Kong and globally. My conversations with alumni also influenced my decision. They emphasized the fellowship they felt with their cohort and the many opportunities offered to them as students of the MBA program.

What quality best describes your MBA classmates and why? Diverse. My last group project involved students from Switzerland, Hong Kong, Finland, India, and China. Each one brought with them experience from their various and fascinating industry backgrounds. I love learning from them, asking them questions and gaining new perspectives.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: It was making the decision to work in a challenging startup environment. The territory surrounding a high growth startup taught me how to think outside the box, take initiative, and be versatile.

What has been the biggest surprise in your first three months of business school? During my first months of business school, my brain responded like an elastic band, constantly being pulled into different directions. There was economics, analytics, accounting, and financing tugging at different parts of my brain. Now, I am seeing how these all relate to each other – and to business.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point in your career? After gaining work experience, I want to ready myself for other career opportunities. By exploring the different facets of business, I want to stretch myself in a challenging learning environment.

What other MBA programs did you apply to? I was steering myself towards applying to Master’s programs with a focus in International Business. After talking to some HKU faculty, alumni, and current students, I knew the MBA at HKU was the right fit for me.

What do you see yourself doing ten years from now? As this year has taught everyone around the world, it is hard to predict what even the next year will look like! In ten years, I hope to be going to work each day with a strong purpose and to be enjoying what I am doing. Although the details are impossible to speculate on, I am certain it will be engaging and meaningful.
