What led you to pursue an MBA at this point in your career?
I always wanted to pursue an MBA, but life and costs played a big part in postponing my decision. Luckily, I have been part of Leadership Fort Worth, an organization that seeks to educate, empower and connect diverse leaders to build a stronger community. There I learned about the Leadership Fort Worth Scholarship, the result of a partnership with TCU. My record of achievement in community activities through the Girl Scouts organization was rewarded, as I became the second recipient of this prestigious scholarship. I aspire to draw on my background and experiences to continue to give back to the community in different ways, and an MBA will be extremely helpful in this regard.

What word best describes the TCU MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far?
Genuine. Every TCU alum I have met so far reminds me I made a great choice. They are proud to have gone through the TCU MBA program and enthusiastically make themselves available to help the next group grow and connect within different industries, functions and job opportunities.

Aside from classmates, what was the key part of TCU’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you?
TCU has a great focus on networking and meeting executives who will help broaden your thoughts and propel your career. Also, alumni really care and take time to support your job search process, which was a key component of why I chose TCU. With the help and network of a TCU alum, I submitted my application, went through the interview process, and successfully secured the AT&T Supply Chain Graduate Internship in Sourcing for this upcoming summer. It’s amazing to see such powerful results so quickly. after beginning my MBA experience.

What is your favorite course as an MBA and/or favorite professor and why?
So far, my favorite class has been Financial Reporting with Dr. Janice Cobb. She made me rethink what I know about business statements, which will be key in future leadership roles, as I will be able to work collaboratively with other departments like accounting and finance.

What club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at TCU?
Coming from working for a girl-led program like Girl Scouts I knew I wanted to join a group that promoted women in leadership roles. I have found that in the Graduate Women in Business organization, which seeks to propel more women into leadership positions in corporate America, advocating for diversity in the workplace. Through Graduate Women in Business, I have been able to get closer to second-year MBA students who have given me great advice about what to expect from the MBA. I am also looking forward to meeting women executives who I’m sure will open career doors for me in the near future.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far?
I got all A’s my first 8 weeks.

What surprised you the most about business school?
I thought I would be able to get right back in the swing of things, but you need to be in a different mindset when you return to the classroom. TCU provides a great jumping point through the START Workshop, a tailored TCU MBA orientation experience that includes introductions from TCU Neeley staff, a case competition with Dell, networking events and other opportunities to help you get ready for coursework and professional development. I am happy to be back in a place of learning where I can try different things and make mistakes so I can be a stronger professional at the end of the program.

What are the top two items on your professional bucket list post your MBA?
• I hope to become a mentor for someone who is wanting to go through the TCU MBA program.
• Be a leader that can create strategic change for not only consumers of the business, but employees that can make their work life better.
