Undergraduate School and Major: Assam Engineering College, B.E. in Civil Engineering. Most Recent Employer and Job Title: Assistant Engineer, Irrigation Department, Government of Assam Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of IIM Indore’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I would like to mention two things here: 1) the reputation of IIM Indore’s immersive and exciting campus life; and 2) the opportunity of having one complete term of learning in the world-renowned SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milan, Italy. What has been your favorite course or extracurricular activity at IIM Indore? What has been the most important lesson that you have learned from it? The Industry Consulting Module, which is a part of the curriculum of EPGP at IIM Indore, provided me with a great opportunity to have a first-hand experience of the real-world functioning of a business entity. I was fortunate enough to have been allotted a Marketing project, which tested our grasp of the theoretical concepts learned in the class and our ability to implement them. The most important lesson I learned from this experience was that a business problem is never one-dimensional. It entails all aspects of managerial learning, starting from Finance and strategy and ranging up to Organizational Behaviour and HRM issues. Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: I transitioned from a purely Academic line of engagement to a hardcore site engineering job in 2017. It was a huge challenge for me as there was no scope for “learning on the job” in my new assignment, and I was expected to deliver on all fronts right from the beginning. I consider this seamless transition to be my biggest achievement. Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far: Coming from a purely Government sector background, I had very little knowledge of the nitty gritty of the corporate sector. Engaging in interactions regarding business activities, whether in class or with my peers, was intimidating at the beginning of my MBA journey. However, as time passed by, I overcame my misgivings and gained the confidence to have a say in such interactions, as I realized that not having the required knowledge about a particular subject should not stop me from trying to acquire said knowledge. What has been your most memorable experience at IIM Indore? Why was it so special? It is the HR Conclave “Anubhav,” organized by the Corporate Interaction Committee, EPGP Co’24, on August 19, 2023. It was a marvelous occasion for the cohort. The presence of outstanding industry veterans and the insightful conversations I could have with them made it a special experience for me. What do you hope to do after graduation? The ultimate goal of every EPGP participant is to land a good job opportunity, and I am no different. However, my added aspiration is that regardless of the organization I end up being involved with, I want to keep learning about the subtleties and nuances of efficiently running a firm and expand my network by meeting experienced and inspirational people from various industries.
