Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. It’s great that you’ve been able to get wide industry exposure from working in your family business, and it sounds like you want to gain the tools you need to take it to the next level someday. LBS is a competitive MBA program though, and you’re applying from a very competitive demographic. That’s why it’s important to make sure your academics are as strong as possible – I recommend retaking the GMAT and aiming for a 730+ (this is important also because consulting firms sometimes ask for GMAT scores).

In your application, you’ll want to make clear the impact and the progression that you’ve made in your career to date, and get 2 very strong recommendations from senior individuals (who are not your family members) that attest to your performance, potential, and growth). You’ll also want to make the motivations behind your goals clear – why consulting post-MBA? Regarding extracurricular activities – if you play badminton in a league, etc. be sure to communicate this in your application. In general, applicants with formal extracurricular involvement tend to be most competitive in this process.
I recommend expanding your list of programs – if you’re focused on the UK, be sure to consider Oxford Said and Cambridge Judge as well. Hope that helps a bit!
