Hi Mr. Cornell Applicant, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. How fascinating that you involved in modeling reagents for Covid. I’m sure you will have a lot to share in classroom. I’m seeing a lot of similarity in your undergrad and grad choices – upstate experiences! It sounds like you’ll bring an interesting in-house finance perspective to your future asset management roles. All this said, I am a bit concerned about your limited work experience, which is far lower than Cornell’s average of 5 and most business school’s 3-8 yr range. MBA programs want you to have enough work and leadership experience to both contribute to and fully take advantage of the program. With lower years of experience, I would look for stellar stats and leadership. …
While your GPA is very strong, your GMAT is lower than the Cornell average of 680. My suggestion would be to get a couple more years of work experience, continue to work on your GMAT and apply in a couple years. During these years you could build on your community involvement (which appears limited here based on the limited info in your profile). And I never like to see a 1 school strategy. This time might also give you a chance to research and get to know other schools. Wish you the best of luck and reach out if I can answer any other questions.
