I worked as in-house legal counsel for the N. American division of a global energy services company. The company is a general contractor for large solar and wind projects as well as large industrial manufacturing projects. I handled the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of contracts and advised projects through project completion.

Hi Mr. Global Energy Business, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. I think you are targeting an MBA for the right reason – with your int’l business and law degree – an MBA could help add the strategic element to your skill set. Curious if you are set on full time – or would consider part time programs? Only because it sounds like you are in an interesting role that could benefit from learning and working at the same time. UNC sounds like a good target for you – with a strong focus on sustainability. And with your JD, you could apply for a GMAT waiver. Are you considering R3? Because you didn’t list any here, I am wondering about your community involvement? Schools will like …
Schools will like to see that you are a part of your greater community – this could be your work community, religious community, local community. Because admissions might not know what the owner side of a transaction may be – try not to use industry language. Is there a company you could use as an example? What type of role would you see yourself moving into post-MBA? This is important so that you can show admissions that you know the opportunities you are trying to move into. I never like to see a 1 school strategy. Other schools in the SE to consider are Georgetown, Emory and GA Tech. Wish you the best of luck and reach out if I can answer any questions.
