I was born in the countryside of Brazil, with an alcoholic dad which made me closer to mom. I discovered he had cancer when I began college and started working at 18 years old, and going back to my hometown weekly (justifying GPA, despite among 20% best of class). I earned 3 promotions in 7 years of work (ABOVE average and counting years before my graduate) – I work in consultancy and public management both to Court.
I would like to also know my chances to the other schools pointed (Darden, Tuck, NYU, Columbia, Cornell and Ross).

Hi, it’s Nisha with mbaMission! You have such an intriguing background with formidable career progression and impact within government, and you’ve overcome so much – I also love seeing how you’ve given back to your community in several different ways. Fuqua, which greatly values community involvement, will certainly take notice of this level of engagement within and outside of the professional arena. I recently worked with a couple of candidates in government and in nonprofit who were admitted to the program with substantial scholarships.

The schools will want to understand what draws you to consulting post-MBA and tech in the long-term – how have your experiences and observations to date led you to these goals? Why tech eventually – what type of impact do you want to make (and, since you want to do consulting first, are you thinking tech strategy)? In addition, you’ll want to make a strong case for why each program is a strong fit for you based on its culture and resources. This will require engaging with each program via virtual events/conversations with students + alumni (all the schools you are targeting value this, but Fuqua especially places emphasis on these interactions).
To maximize your chances at these programs, I would give GMAT another shot to attain 700+ and be closer to the schools’ averages. If you feel you have maxed out on GMAT, you can consider switching to the GRE. Many of your target schools also accept the EA. I would also add Kellogg to your list – even though it is more of a reach vs. Fuqua, it’s excellent for consulting and tech, and would appreciate your distinctive background.
I hope that helps! If you’d like to discuss in more detail, please sign up for a free consultation and I’d be happy to chat with you. Best of luck and stay safe!
