In B-school, I hope to meet a classroom full of diverse people who can help me broaden my mindset and challenge my most rigid notions. Eventually, I aim to create a social media platform promoting long-form content, shifting away from ad-driven networks.

Based on the title of your profile, you already know the red flag in your application to an elite business school. That red flag is a big one because a 2.2 GPA would generally be a dead-on-arrival sign at a school such as Stanford. Sure, you have more than offset it with a 780 GMAT and that is fantastic. Based on the title of your profile, you already know the red flag in your application to an elite business school. That red flag is a big one because a 2.2 GPA would generally be a dead-on-arrival sign at a school such as Stanford. Sure, you have more than offset it with a 780 GMAT and that is fantastic. But you will have to explain why in the world you only managed a 2.2 GPA and if the explanation isn’t convincing or well received, you are out of luck at most of your target schools. If you can explain it to the satisfaction of admission officials, you have a chance but you still have to contend with being in a highly competitive cohort of male STEM applications from India. Given your post-MBA goals, I would strongly suggest dropping a few of your target schools and replacing them with other lower-ranked but excellent options that would just as easily allow you to pursue your dream. Michigan, Virginia, Texas, Carnegie Mellon, and Cornell would be possible but even these schools, in my estimation, would be stretch candidates for you. I would seriously look at Indiana, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, and UC-Davis.
