Had a ton of success at my start-up before the COVID outbreak. Just formed multiple partnerships with large institutional companies and raised a small Series A round. In addition to work, I am an avid piano player and have released multiple albums with different bands, including a solo record, and traveled the country playing!
Have had completely opposite experiences at J.P. Morgan and the start-up and looking to use the skills I have gained at both for a mid-sized/large real estate development company.

Hi Mr. Sustainable Real Estate, This is Debbie Choy, Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I like your focus on real estate entrepreneurism, as well as your unique personal interests in music! Business schools are always looking for accomplished professionals who are also interesting people outside of work. Congratulations also on your acceptance to the Georgetown and NYU real estate Masters programs! Given your specific interest in real estate, I think these programs are a good fit for you. The network you will build at these programs will be much more industry-specific. That said, there is certainly value in attending a more generalist MBA program. For starters, you would meet classmates from diverse industries that could widen your network and help you explore different interests. Further, you would …
Hi Mr. Sustainable Real Estate, This is Debbie Choy, Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I like your focus on real estate entrepreneurism, as well as your unique personal interests in music! Further, you would be exposed to lessons and best practices from different industries that could help you bring a unique perspective to real estate. Darden looks for candidates with between 3-6 years of full-time experience under their belt when they apply. Given that you only have 2 years of work experience right now, I recommend applying to Darden perhaps in 1-2 years’ time. That will also give you time to take either the GMAT or GRE, which are required for business school application. My estimate of your odds are based on your current profile should you apply now, but if you build more experience, there’s no reason why your odds wouldn’t be in line with the average at Darden (between 24-26%). Best of luck!
