Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. You have a very impressive background both as an entrepreneur and as someone who is passionate about developing youth and working hard toward improving people’s lives. This pattern of involvement in things that you’re passionate about over time is really important to schools, and Tuck is no exception. Ad-com will really like to see this heavy extracurricular work outside of running a business. I’m not sure how the GPA translates and I don’t see a GMAT or GRE so it’s hard to assess competitiveness. Given your different profile and coming from an under-represented country, you should have a better-than-average shot if you can get a test score in the school’s 80% range. For your ST post-MBA goal, you’ll want to show the WHY behind strategy consulting. SO many people go that route and it can teach you so much in so little time, but you don’t want to look like you’re picking it out of a hat. Be specific about what you’d learn and how that will help you in your LT goal (be clear on where you think you’re headed too). Perhaps you’d want to work in the Consumer or Retail practice of one of the firms to dovetail with the footwear business you’ve been running? Show ad-com in the essays that you’ve done your research and must have an MBA to reach your goals. I wish you lots of luck!
