Nothing in life is guaranteed. In business, this is particularly true. Like any true thought leader, Professor Svenja Sommer at HEC Paris sees this challenge as an opportunity to improve business practices. With research that centers on new product development in business, idea generation, and the management of product uncertainty, Sommer seeks to identify management strategies when dealing with business uncertainties. Her aim is to help increase the chances of success when launching a business in new markets or when using unfamiliar technologies when creating a new product.

At HEC, Sommer is an assistant professor of operations management and information technology and teaches supply chain management and an elective on project management. She is also the current Senior Editor for the “New Product Development, R&D, and Project Management” department of the Production and Operations Management Society.
