High pay and reasonable debt doesn’t necessarily produce happiness, according to PayScale. As part of its employee survey, PayScale also asks respondents, “Does your work make the world a better place?” Turns out, you won’t find an MBA program in the Top 50, with the University of Iowa clocking in at 51st, with 75% believing their work has value. They were followed by Utah (72%), Carnegie Mellon (71%), Mercer (70%), Miami (68%) and Colorado (68%).

In contrast, you’ll find the lowest morale among MBA grads at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (26%), Northern Illinois (28%), Florida (30%), and Georgia (30%). Among top 20 MBA programs, Carnegie Mellon alums had the best outlook, with 71% finding purpose in their work. They were followed by Emory (64%), and Wharton (62%).
