What achievement are you most proud of in your professional career? In a short six-year timeframe, I feel that I’ve been able to leave my personal stamp on each position I’ve held in the automotive industry, which has historically been male-dominated. Being able to set the bar high for my replacements to follow has not only been a fun journey, but it’s also been extremely rewarding. I’ve climbed the ladder within huge, global automotive organizations faster than I could have ever dreamed of when I started my career. I feel like the sky is the limit for what I can achieve in the future.

Why did you choose this school’s online MBA program? I felt that the MBA@Nebraska program provided the best ROI when analyzing the ranking of the program, the quality of the education received, and the cost of the degree. I also enjoyed being able to pick and choose my classes in the order and the pace that I wanted to take them.

What was your favorite part of being in an online MBA program? My favorite part of being in an online MBA program was meeting other working professionals in group projects and discussion boards. It opened my eyes to all of the different career paths and industries that I may not have ever been exposed to previously. I also enjoyed hearing about everyone’s different personal goals that achieving their MBA would help them accomplish.

What was the most surprising thing about an online learning environment? The most surprising thing about going through the program online was that I felt like I was able to make genuine connections with fellow students and faculty even though all of the interactions were fully remote. Although each group project was only 8 weeks long at most, I still felt like I was able to get to know people on a personal level, which I really enjoyed.

How did your online experience compare with your in-the-classroom experience as an undergraduate student? Compared to my in-person undergraduate experience, I enjoyed being able to log in and work on my classes at any time. My learning was not dependent on being physically present in the classroom like it was in my undergrad program. The additional flexibility provided through online learning at this stage of my life was a big reason I enjoyed the program.

What is your best piece of advice to an applicant for thriving in an online MBA program? My best piece of advice for someone who may be considering an online MBA program is to ensure that you have good time-management skills. The 8-week classes go by very quickly, so staying on top of each week’s deliverables and planning out every week’s workload ahead of time is crucial to being successful in this online format.

What would you change about an online MBA Program? The one thing that I would add to the MBA@Nebraska program would be opportunities for in-person weekend seminars or classes. One of the program’s greatest strengths is the fact that there is no mandatory requirement to attend any in-person sessions. But for some folks who may enjoy the opportunity to network with fellow students and faculty in-person, offering a few opportunities throughout the year to have the option to do so would be valuable to students.

How has your online education helped you in your current job? Going through the online MBA program has given me a broader perspective on overall business strategy and how all functions of the business intersect to produce an end result. Just having that additional knowledge base of other functions has helped me make better strategic decisions that ultimately affect our bottom line. I also honed in on critical-thinking skills that allow me to better address roadblocks and challenges that may arise in day-to-day processes.

Did you earn a promotion while in the program or immediately after graduation? Yes, nearing the end of the program I changed companies.

Did you earn a raise during the online MBA program? Yes.

Number of Hours Per Week Spent On Online MBA: When taking 2 classes per 8-week term, it was about 15 hours per week.

What is your ultimate long-term professional goal? My ultimate goal is to grow into a senior leadership role, helping to drive business results while managing and developing junior employees to achieve their full potential. Additionally, I would love to set an example that encourages women to enter the automotive industry.
